Getting to know David - an improvised evening

A friend and I started a little journey several days ago called Getting to Know David.  It involves an 18 day adventure, listening to 16 David Bowie albums, one each day (with two breaks in between to catch our breath and reflect). We are experiencing a somewhat random list of albums from 1967 to 2016.  To enhance our engagement, we decided to write a haiku after each listen, to capture our immediate feelings, thoughts and emotions. In essence, we being inspired by David's music to write a haiku back to David.

Last night I shared the game with Laura and Steve and we did a proper listen of Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust, on vinyl no less.  During the listening it was decided Steve and Laura should write their own haiku.  One thing led to another, and immediately after the last note of Rock and Roll Suicide they wrote, polished and shared their haikus.  Laura's was particularly interesting and she challenged us to turn it into a song.  We experimented, improvised and began bringing melodic life to Laura's words.  This led to a rushed recording on Steve's iphone, a one take session, and resulted in a song that will live forever, capturing the album, the night, the moment, and the joy of the creation of highly spontaneous art.
