I arrive in Ocracoke two weeks today!

The strangest thing about this whole thing has been how quick it has come around.   It was back on 26th October 2022 when Jim sent me an e-mail saying "How is your housing situation. I have a idea for you if you are looking for something in January. It would be a very unique experience."

A big part of me thought “ahh this is one of those things I wish I could say yes to but I can think of so many good reasons it won’t work.” But another part of me thought “Fuck it!” and said yes and it evolved from there.

In less that two months it was all arranged and in two weeks time I will arrive on the island!   On the last video call between Jim, Laura, Jo and myself there was a moment when both Jim and I looked at each other and said "What on earth are we doing?" I often say that I am at my best when I’m not quite sure what I am doing - this adventure will be a real test of how true that is.

Now that the travel is all arranged there is not really any prep to do other than create a kit list and arrange to have the materials delivered to Jim and Laura's house in Wilmington ready to transport to the island.

The next two weeks feel like they are going to simultaneously drag and fly by.
